Jo Ann Skipper Murdock, 87, of Statesville, N.C., passed away Monday, March 24, 2025, at Autumn Care of Statesville.
Jo Ann was born in Horry County on August 14, 1937, to the late William Donnie Skipper and Evelyn Lucille Gilmore Skipper. She was a graduate of Myrtle Beach High School and later married the late Albert Jay Murdock Sr., and together they were members of Troutman Baptist Church and had four children. She worked as a seamstress for Troutman Shirt Mill for 25 years, later working for Life Span of Troutman, spoiling her students.
Those left to cherish her memory are her four children, sons, Jay Murdock (Lorrie) of Statesville, Greg Murdock (Barbara) of Cleveland, and Scott Murdock (Pam) of Troutman, and daughter, Millette M. Clontz (Kelly) of Mooresville; nine grandchildren, William and Matthew Murdock, Kristi Spann, Aaron Murdock, Brittany Clendenin, Brooke Adams, Dustin Clontz, Tyler Clontz, and Kathryn Clontz Calnan; eleven great grandchildren and two more on the way.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 28, at Troutman Baptist Church with Pastor Matthew Murdock officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends prior to the service from 1 until 2 p.m. Pallbearers are William Murdock, Maddox Murdock, Tyler Clontz, Dustin Clontz, Adam Calnan, Eric Spann, Joe Adams, and Jon Clendenin.
