Jonah MacWayne Lowe, 78, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at his residence. A native of Iredell County, he was born to the late Jonah “King” Lowe and Laura Isabella McLain Lowe at Lowrance Hospital in Mooresville, N.C.
Mr. Lowe was a graduate of Dunbar High School in Mooresville. He worked at several local businesses in Iredell County, including Southern Screw, Burlington Industries, Intercraft, the Iredell County Courthouse and West Iredell High School. While he was raised in the House of Prayer in Mooresville, he was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church on Green Street in Statesville. Jonah was an A-1 Golfer and was a member of the Statesville Golf Association.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Lowe, and by a sister, Barbara Gibbs.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 56 years, Josephine Martin Lowe; two daughters, Cecelia “CeCe” Avis Martin of Charlotte, N.C., and Demetris Trevis Lowe of Statesville. He is also survived by five siblings, Lucinda Work (Marvin), Doris Phifer (Howard), Jerry Edward Lowe (Sandra), Phyllis Alexander (Eddie), and Gail Lowe. A sister-in-law, Lydia Lowe, also survives him. Jonah has six grandchildren, Johnathan, Joshua, Christopher, Jacobi, Nikkole and Casey; and nine great-grandchildren.
A quiet time will begin on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home. The homegoing celebration will begin at 1:30 p.m., and interment will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
