Joseph Hobson Norvell III, 83, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House in Mooresville.

He was born on April 18, 1941, in Richmond, Va., to the late Joseph Hobson Norvell Jr. and Ellis Gudger Norvell. Mr. Norvell was an enthusiastic outdoorsman. He loved to hunt, fish, and collect arrowheads and guns.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by cousins, Susan Sherrill and Cindy Garris.

Mr. Norvell is survived by his cousins, John Gudger, Jim Gudger, Van Knox, Carolyn Sigmon, Judy Marsh, Dianne Dement, Colen Howard, Joe Howard, Nancy Guerin, Joyce Gudger, and Bob Gudger.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 2, 2025, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 12 noon on Monday, February 3, at Village Cemetery in Charlotte Courthouse, Va.
