Mr. Leon Matt Ramsey, 66, of 1112 McCollough Street, Statesville, N.C., was born in Iredell County on August 20, 1958, as Leonard Maurice Ramsey to the late George A. Ramsey and Annie Harris Ramsey. He departed this life on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at his home.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, George A. Ramsey Jr., and a sister-in-law, Shannon Sloan.

Floyd, as he was affectionately called, leaves to remember and celebrate his life his brothers, Jarvis Harris of Charlotte, Steven Ramsey of Hickory, and Rodney Ramsey of Troutman; his sisters, Lori Ann (Felix) Graham of Troutman, Cheri Ramsey (Charles Clement) of Mocksville, Erica Ramsey (Larry Robinson) of Statesville and Tara Ramsey (Stanley Sawyer) of Cleveland; a nephew who was reared in the home, Tyrone Brandon of Charlotte; and an adopted sister, Ebony (John) Long, both of Charlotte; a sister-in-law, Cozette Ramsey of Troutman; uncle and aunts, Nathaniel Ramsey and Mable Harris, both of Troutman, and Ruth Rankin of Statesville; special neighbors and friends, Carolyn Phifer, Charles and Amanda Norman, and Betty Ivery; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Shinnsville United Church of Christ Cemetery in Troutman. Members of the family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 until 1:30 p.m., but will assemble at the residence of a brother, Rodney Ramsey, 207 Overcash Road, Troutman, at other times.
