Leroy Charles Whitmer, 95, passed away on March 26, 2025, from natural causes, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, love, and dedication to his family.
Leroy was a hardworking man who spent much of his life behind the wheel of a semi-log truck before returning to Ingersoll Rand, where he continued working until the remarkable age of 86. His work ethic was unmatched, but his true joy was found in the simple pleasures of life, tending to his garden, creating beautiful woodwork in his shop, and enjoying the outdoors.
A proud Army veteran, Leroy served his country with honor. He carried that same sense of duty into his role as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nina Whitmer; faithful dog, Bubbles; and his five children, Kerry Caba (Ginger), Kim Zeigler (Todd), Gary Whitmer, Daniel Whitmer, and Cathy Miller; five grandchildren, Tytan Caba, Ashtyn Zeigler, Colby Zeigler, Brooke Mull, and Allen Price; and two great-grandchildren, Jovi and A’Raylah.
Leroy’s life was one of resilience, craftsmanship, and devotion to those he loved. His memory will live in the hearts of his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Visitation for family and friends to honor Leroy’s life will be held at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home on Sunday, April 6, from 1 to 3 p.m.
Cavin-Cook Funeral Home and Crematory, Mooresville, is serving the Whitmer family. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.cavin-cook.com.
