Lettie Gilbert Moretz, 93 years young, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 24, 2025, at Caldwell Memorial Hospital.
She was born on November 15, 1931, in Caldwell County,to the late Carl L. Gilbert Sr. and Bertha Curtis Gilbert.
She leaves behind three children, James Moretz (Mary) of Cummings, Ga., Linda Thurmond (Mike) of Clover, S.C., and Mike Moretz (Gail) of Charlotte, N.C. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Sam, Ben, Jake (Allie), Ashley (Josh), Anthony (Christa), Brad (Miranda), and Brian; and six great grandchildren, Luke, Eric, Lucas, Kylie, Saylor and Wyatt. She is also survived by one brother, Carl Gilbert Jr., and two sisters, Frances Marler and Jean Hatley.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Preston, Glenn, and Albert; and two sisters, Emma Whisnant (Ray) and Carolyn Trivette.
The family would like to thank a special brother-in-law, Ralph Trivette, for all the help and the company he provided for Mom. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Our Mother never met a stranger and loved spending time with her family. We all loved her deeply and she will be greatly missed. Rest in peace, Mom.
The family would also like to recognize Diane and Sarah, her caregivers from Always Caring, and Chuck and Erica from Palliative Care. She loved each and every one of you. Thanks also to Dr. Cotton for always being there.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, February 28 at Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir with Rev. John Parks officiating. The family will visit with friends following the service.
