Lucille Thompson Deaton, 95, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away peacefully on Monday, March 31, 2025, at her residence.
She was born on March 26, 1930, in Mooresville, to the late Eva Thompson Towell and RT Towell. Lucille was employed as office manager for Troutman Shirt Company for 32 years and continued working for the Mooresville School System until the age of 70. She was a lifelong faithful member of Central United Methodist Church in Mooresville, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and was elected as the Methodist Woman of the Year.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Deaton; daughter, Lynda Keller; brothers, Teddy Towell, Ronnie Towell, and Dan Combs; and niece, Dana Barfield.
She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Brannon and Sheila Atwell (Mike); granddaughters, Meredith Hicks (Landon), Hailey Brannon, and Ashley Willard (Joseph); grandsons, Jade Brannon, Phillip Atwell (Carolyn), and Blaine Willard (Dani); sisters, Jean Gibson and Joan Combs; and sisters-in-law, Melody and Joanne; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Viewing and visitation will take place on Friday, April 4, 2025, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church, Mooresville. A Funeral Service will follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Ross O’Neill and Rev. Anita Sain officiating. Burial will follow the service at Glenwood Memorial Park.
