Mrs. Margaret Mary Bassani, 83, of Cleveland, N.C., and formerly of Davenport, N.Y., passed away peacefully on December 30, 2024. Born on February 17, 1941, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the cherished daughter of the late John and Helen O’Shea Garvey.
Margaret was a vibrant spirit who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a deep love for her yard, relishing each moment spent nurturing her plants. An adventurous soul, she enjoyed working on crafts alongside her daughter Patricia, eagerly anticipating every opportunity to showcase their creations at local craft shows. Margaret’s heart was filled with kindness, especially towards animals, and her loving pets were a central part of her world.
Margaret’s boundless energy and enthusiasm for life were contagious to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will forever remain a source of comfort and inspiration to those she touched.
Proud of her Brooklyn roots, Margaret never lost her endearing accent and cherished the moments spent dancing, laughing, and enjoying the company of friends, and visiting the beach. Her passion for classic automobiles led her to be an active member of the American Austin Bantam Club, where she made lasting memories at national meets.
In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Linda Bassani.
She leaves behind her devoted daughter Patricia Weber and husband Chris of Cleveland, N.C., as well as her devoted daughter Karen Haney and husband Alan of Hope Hull, Ala.. Her memory will also live on through her cherished grandson, Trevor Haney of Hope Hull, Ala.
A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home in Mooresville, N.C. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, from 1 to 2 p.m., providing an opportunity for loved ones to come together to reflect on her remarkable life and the joyful moments shared.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the Iredell County Animal Shelter, 430 Bristol Drive, Statesville, NC 28677, in honor of Margaret’s love for animals.
Margaret’s warmth, kindness, and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May her spirit continue to inspire and bring joy to those she touched.
