Melisse Millsaps was born in Alexander County on November 2, 1970, to Jerry and Ruby Flowers Millsaps. She departed this life on March 30, 2025, after several years of illness. She was in the care of the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, N.C.
Melisse attended North Iredell High School, and she was a CNA for many years. Melisse enjoyed being with her family. Some of her hobbies were vacationing in the mountains, going on cruises and the beach. She loved to watch ID Channels, and she never had a problem telling you what she wanted. She loved talking about growing up and one of her favorite things was always calling on her sister Shervon for anything. She became her caregiver, and no matter what she was always there for her until the end, along with the help of her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant son; her grandparents, Baxter and Elizabeth Millsaps, and William and Bernice Flowers; four aunts, an uncle, and three cousins.
She will be remembered by her parents; three daughters, Alisha Millsaps of Charlotte, Shakeia Millsaps, and Ta’Myra Millsaps, both of Statesville; son, Dominique Waddell of Statesville; seven grandchildren, Ashiya Millsaps, Zyriah Millsaps, Zynia Bailey, and Ahkari Millsaps, all of Statesville, Zayvion Millsaps of Charlotte, twins, Ava and Ariana Robinson of Statesville; sister, Shervon Houpe (Robert) of Cleveland; brother, Jerry Alonzo Millsaps (Kellin) of Taylorsville; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
“With humble acceptance of God’s will, we know she is resting with the Lord with all smiles. Knowing she is no longer in pain.”
