Michael “Mike” Edward Perry, 81, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2024, at Mooresville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born on April 2, 1943, in Mooresville, he was the son of the late Charles Edward and Sarah Brady Perry as well as his late foster mother Bertie Masters.

Mike was one of the most genuine people anyone could have known; teaching that you love without judgment of who someone is only unconditionally and equally. He helped so many people without a single complaint, showing his genuine kindness. After Patsy passed away from cancer, Mike volunteered for many years in Hospice, dedicating his time to help those during their passing moments.

As a proud Army veteran, he kept strong in his beliefs involving our country. With his strong belief in faith, he was also an active and proud member of Triplett Methodist Church.

Mike was a proud Duke and Clemson fan, attending football and basketball games whenever he had the chance. Some of his other greatest pleasures were teaching his son Scott how to make “the right” kind of BBQ, golfing with his friends, relaxing while sitting on the beach and partaking in shag dancing, a hobby he enjoyed with his wife Patsy and granddaughter Shiloh.

Mike loved his grandchildren greatly as he attended almost every dance competition or Acrofitness performance when he could. He loved his family and friends dearly and enjoyed spending time with his great grandchildren, whom he adored.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Lucy “Darlene” Perry and his brother Ricky Perry, along with wife, Patsy Byars Perry.

He is survived by his children, Lisa McClain and husband David, Michael “Scott” Perry and wife Renee; his sisters, Cheryl Brown, and Pam Cook and husband Andy; his aunt Patsy Belk; grandchildren, Ashley McClain, Shiloh Overcash and husband Aaron Overcash, Kristin McClain, Tylor Perry, and Brandyn Brown; step-grandchildren, Josh Sharpe, Mindy Rainwater and husband Jr. Rainwater; great grandchildren, TJ Perry, Elaina Perry, Alexstrasza Overcash, Emori Overcash, and Izora Overcash; step-great grandchildren, Jarvis Sharpe, Bryson Rainwater and Gunnar Rainwater.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 29, at Triplett Methodist Church with the Rev. Jesse Clubb officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church’s cemetery. The family will receive friends and family on Tuesday, January 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home.
