Michael Joseph Williams, a resident of Mooresville N.C., passed away peacefully on December 18, 2024, at the age of 82.

Michael was born on February 7, 1942, as the son of Joseph and Frances Williams in Long Island, N.Y.

Known as “Mickey” to family and “Mike” by most others, he loved cars, racing, and commercial real estate. He started, owned, and operated Action Transmission in Uniondale, N.Y., from 1969-1985, which became Action Automotive upon moving to North Carolina in 1985. He then switched to stock car racing and ran NASCAR North, NASCAR Busch Grand National, Late Model and Pro Cup racing. Mike’s true enjoyment was a 14-plus hour day’s work tweaking and modifying his race cars or making business deals while listening to talk radio or 1950’s rock roll.

He was preceded in death by his father Joseph, mother Frances, and son Richard. He is survived by sister Rita; brother Joseph and wife Denise; son James and wife Jane; and their children Thomas, Michelle, and Meredith.
