Miriam “Mimi” Belle Rose, 97, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House after a brief illness.
She was Born on August 3, 1927, in Pittsfield, Mass., the third child of Leo and Pauline Kollman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Morton “Morty” H. Rose and her siblings, Ruth Schechter, Kenneth Kollman and Ronald Kollman.
While Morty was alive, they enjoyed traveling to Portugal, Turkey, Israel, the Caribbean, Venezuela and many parts of the U.S. and Canada. She continued to travel with friends and family members for many more years.
She loved playing Mah Jongg, bridge and golf well into her later years. She was an avid reader, and her bookcases were always overflowing. Mimi liked knitting sweaters and crocheting blankets. She enjoyed watching movies, especially the old ones, and was a big fan of opera. A raucous game of consecutive gin was the favorite activity when family came to visit.
Mimi was an active member of the Jewish community and was a life member of Hadassah. She and Morty owned and operated Mimi’s Bridal Shop in Lebanon, N.H., from 1976 until they sold the business in 1987, when they retired and moved to Mesa, Ariz. She remained in Mesa after Morty’s death until 1995, when she moved to Delray Beach, Fla., to be closer to her East Coast family. In 2017, she moved to North Carolina to be close to her daughter, granddaughter and great-grandchildren.
Mimi leaves two daughters, Melodi Hackett (Rick) of Portland, Maine, and Mandi Singer (Jerry) of Mooresville, N.C.; four grandchildren, Rachel, Matthew, Rebecca and Jennifer; and seven great-grandchildren.
No services will be held at this time.
Her last place of residence was the memory care unit at TerraBella Lake Norman, Mooresville, N.C., where she will be fondly remembered by their caring staff.
If you would like to remember Mimi in some way, play a round of golf, read a book, play with your grandkids or donate to your local Hospice.
