Phillip Carol McCoy, a former resident of 121 McCoy Lane in Statesville, N.C., graduated to the Lord on February 14, 2025, at Richard Campbell Veterans Nursing Home, Belton, S.C. He was 96.
Phillip was born March 27, 1928, as the youngest in a family of 13 in Iredell County, N.C., and was a son of the late Perce and Carrie Murdock McCoy. He married Mary “Carolyn” on September 27, 1958, and became a devoted father in 1969. He was a residential and commercial electrician by trade, retiring from Beam Electric, and was a lifelong active member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church. He served in the Army in Kitzingen, Germany from 1953 to 1955. While serving abroad, he appreciated the opportunity to tour several countries in Europe.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death on November 5, 2020, by his wife, Mary “Carolyn” McCoy, and siblings, Ethel M. Westmoreland, Leona M. McCoy, Nadine M. Horton, Vivian Christy, Clyde McCoy, Alan McCoy, Robert (Doc) McCoy, Ralph McCoy, Ray Lynn McCoy, Russell McCoy, Parks McCoy, and Harry McCoy.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol Yates (Rodney) of Iva, S.C.

The family will host a service celebrating Phillip and Carolyn’s life on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Bethesda Presbyterian Church, at 802 Bethesda Road, Statesville, NC 28677.
