Phyllis was a proud graduate of Mooresville High School, Class of 1952, and attended Greensboro College for Women. Phyllis dedicated nearly five decades of her life to Burlington Industries, where she served as an administrative secretary for 49 years. Her unwavering commitment to her work was matched only by her devotion to her family and community. A longstanding member of Broad Street Church of Mooresville, she found great joy in her faith and her fellowship.

In her earlier years, Phyllis was an active member of the Adah Chapter #258 of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she served as Past Worthy Matron. Her zest for life included a love for square dancing and camping, adventures she shared with her husband, Hiram Eddie Brown Jr., as charter members of the Spinning Moors and the Carolina Guroos camping club. Their annual trips to Florida from January to April were cherished moments, filled with joy as they explored various festivals and landmarks across the United States.

Phyllis will be remembered lovingly by her son, James “Jimmy” Scott Brown; his wife Kim; and her dear grandchildren, Mattie Rae Brown Hennen (Cole) and Stewart Scott Brown (Emily Adams). She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Hiram.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 3 p.m. at Broad Street Church of Mooresville, with Rev. Gary Sowell officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in Willow Valley Cemetery in Mooresville. The family will welcome visitors for a time of reflection and remembrance one hour prior to the service at the church.
