Rhonda “Rene’e” Harris Hooper, a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully at home, after battling cancer, on March 21, 2025, in Statesville, N.C.,  at the age of 61.

Rene’e was born on April 4, 1963, in Iredell County and was a graduate of North Iredell High School. She was the daughter of the late Evelyn Grant Harris and William Jurney Harris.

Rene’e was a woman of faith, finding solace and guidance in her relationship with God. Bragging about her grandchildren always put a smile on her face. She had a talent at cross stitching. She loved being outside, working in her yard and planting flowers. She had neighbors that shared the same passion, that over the years became family.

She worked at ASMO for many years, working with the best team there was, we’ve been told, and building lifelong friendships. She later changed careers, becoming a home health nurse aide, taking care of loved ones in their homes. During this time, her friendship circle grew.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Paul Justin Hooper.

Rene’e is survived by her daughter, Brittany Hooper Ladd (Tyler) of Harmony; and her grandchildren, Zakre, Emma-Jade, Sylas, and Maverik. She is also survived by two brothers, Mickey Harris (Ellie) of Mississippi and Ricky Harris of Statesville; and three nephews, Jeffery Harris (Brittney) and family of Alabama, Tanner Harris of Texas, and Curtis Josey (Amy) and family of Troutman.

Mom always said, “If you can count five true friends throughout your life, consider yourself lucky.” My Mom was not just lucky; she was blessed with true friends that loved her, supported her, and understood her. For that, I am forever grateful that she had each and every one of you, not just during this difficult time, but for the smiles, laughs, and memories prior.

We love you more than words can say, Mom. We will always forever hold you in our hearts. Fly high with our other guardian angels now. Thankful your spirit is free and no longer suffering.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at 3 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Thomas Chambers officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the cemetery from 2 until 3 p.m.

Troutman Funeral Home is serving the family.
