Dr. Robert Douglas Finley, born on November 24, 1970, in Huntington, N.Y., passed away on February 28, 2025, following a brief illness. He lived a life dedicated to service, having embraced his career with open arms. Over a span of 28 years, Doug worked tirelessly as a beloved chiropractor, deriving great joy from helping others.
An alum of Statesville High School, Doug furthered his education at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. He then pursued his passion for chiropractic care at Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, Mo. His academic journey laid a solid foundation for a professional life characterized by compassion and dedication.
In addition to his career, Doug was a lifelong learner who maintained a keen interest in politics. He also had a passion for collecting American-made antiques and furniture, a hobby that reflected his appreciation for craftsmanship and history. Doug was an active member of Western Avenue Baptist Church, where his involvement enriched both his life and the lives of those around him.
Doug is survived by his beloved wife, Ginger Guy Finley; his son, Jackson Dale Finley; his father, Robert C. Finley; his sister, Dawn Finley-Bayne; his mother-in-law, Susan Aldridge; his father-in-law, Dale Guy; his brother-in-law, Kelly Guy (Theresa); and special friends, Chris and Carolyn Campbell and their family. His legacy will be remembered fondly by his family and friends.
Doug was predeceased by his mother, Ann Houston Finley; his son, Houston Alexander Finley; and his brother-in-law, Charles Bayne. Their memories will forever be cherished as part of the story of a remarkable man whose life touched many.
A memorial service will be held on March 9, 2025, at the Western Avenue Baptist Church in Statesville, N.C., beginning at 2 p.m. The family will speak with friends following the service. Doug’s contributions to his community and the lives he influenced will be honored during this time of remembrance.
