Shirley Parris Hager, 82, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Monday, April 7, 2025. She was born on September 11, 1942, in Haywood County, N.C., to the late William Dave Parris Sr. and Mary Gilliland Parris.

Shirley was a lifetime member of Whitman Park Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School, was WMU director for several years, and choir director. She always would help with whatever was needed at the time because she loved God and her church.

Shirley enjoyed gardening and working in her flower beds. Her greatest love was her family, especially the grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Larry Michael Hager; son, Darren Lee Hager; and brothers, Rev. William Parris Jr., Carmel Lee Parris, Frank Richard Parris, Charles Parris, Wayne Edward Parris, and Freddie Eugene Parris.

Those left to cherish Shirley’s memory are her children, Robert Moffitt (Susan), Sherry Plyler, Beverly Moffitt, and Debbie Parris, all of Mooresville, N.C.; grandchildren, Kaila Moffitt, Christopher Moffitt, Brittany Moffitt, Kaci Plyler, and Zoe Hager; and great grandchildren, Amara Hamilton, Isaiah Moffitt.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Whitman Park Baptist Church, Mooresville with Rev. Jesse Clubb, Rev. Robert Jackson, and Rev. James King. officiating. Burial will follow the service at Iredell Memorial Park in Statesville.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church.
