Sible Cora Smith, 88, of Stony Point, N.C., passed away February 24, 2025, at the Gordon Hospice House following an extended illness. She was born in Catawba County on January 24, 1937, to the late Walter Smith and Emma Stout Smith.

Sible was a CNA for Iredell Memorial Hospital and was a member of Stony Point Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Smith; two daughters, Rosemarie Duncan and Lorrie Payne; five sisters; and three brothers.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Jo Stikeleather of Stony Point and Diane Eckerd (Dennis) of Taylorsville. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Scottie Joines, Jill Mecimore, Heather Bosick, Alisha Fox, Anthony Rimmer and Raven Brown; nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great -grandchild.

A graveside service will be conducted Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at Stony Point Baptist Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at 6 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.
