Tommy L. Parson, 73, of Taylorsville, N.C., passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025, at his home.
Tommy was born March 28, 1951, in Alexander County, the son of the late Ned Parson and Epsie Rowe Parson.
He was a truck driver for most of his working career; after retirement he worked for Ride with Pride Carwash. He was a member of St. John Baptist Church, where he was a trustee and a member of the all-male and senior choirs. He enjoyed fishing and Washington Redskins football, which now are the Washington Commanders. He also loved working on small engines.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and four brothers.
Those left to cherish and honor Tommy’s memories include his wife, Mary Lynn King Parson of the home; his sons, Tommy Wesley Parson (Paulette) of Hickory, and Ashley L. Parson (Shanay) of Taylorsville; his grandchildren, Deion Wall, Aveion Parson, and Altarique “Nas” Parson; his step-grandchild, Markcavious Parson; his great-grandchild, Ayden; his sister, Beulah Parson of Taylorsville; his special friends, Jack Parson, Hugh Rowe, and Rev. Sterling Howard; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The Home-Going Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at St. John Baptist Church. Rev. T.E. Martin and Rev. Sterling Howard will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. prior to the service.
