Travis Austin Ward, 53, of Harmony, N.C., went into the arms of the Lord on March 12, 2025, with his loving family by his side.

Travis was born in Iredell County on May 19, 1971, to parents Kenneth Ward and Jane Lovette, who preceded him in death.

Those left to cherish his memory include his dear uncle, Clarence “Pete” Ward; his children, Jonathan Blevins, Morgan Peacock, Dylan Ward (Me’lique), Stephanie Ward (Jacob Maine), and Payton Watson (Dallin); siblings, Phoebe Welch (Justin), Beth Hager (Randy), and Phillip Ward (Jenny); great grandchildren, Layia Hartsoe, Raelynn Watson, Wren Watson, and Watson boy due in May as well as many nephews and nieces.

He graduated from North Iredell High School in 1990. Travis worked with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office for 29 years, where he was a Detention Sergeant. He began in 1996, and in 1998 was promoted to Sergeant. In 2003 he became a K-9 handler.

Travis was dedicated to his work and those he worked with. He was loyal, dependable, and would always have your back. He was a great man, who made a lasting impact on anyone who encountered him.

Travis had a passion and unwavering love for his children and family. He enjoyed having a cookout, playing softball, and his dogs. His downtime consisted of a low-key country life — being on the farm, working on a tractor, and spending time with his “youngins.” He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 22, at Mount Bethel Methodist Church with Pastor Justin Welch officiating. The family will visit with friends prior to the service from 2 until 4 p.m.

Troutman Funeral Home is honored to serve the Ward family.
