A Mooresville man faces felony drug and weapons charge following an investigation by the Mooresville Police Department.
Gordon Cortel Serrano, 34, was arrested on Thursday, February 3, after Narcotics Division personnel executed a search warrant at his home on Cabarrus Avenue after an investigation into complaints of illegal drug activity, according to an MPD news release.
During the investigation, detectives learned that, in addition to selling illegal drugs near Mooresville High School, the suspect was also frequently in possession of firearms while being a convicted felon, police said.
During a search of the residence, detectives seized one pound of marijuana, 30 grams of cocaine, 74 dosages of MDMA (ecstasy), a sawed-off shotgun and a handgun, according to the news release.
Serrano was charged with the following felonies trafficking in cocaine; possession with intent to sell and deliver a controlled substance (marijuana) within 1,000 feet of a park, possession with intent to sell and deliver a controlled substance (cocaine) within 1,000 feet of a park; possession with intent to sell and deliver a controlled substance (MDMA) within 1,000 feet of a park; possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; and possession of a weapon of mass destruction. He was also charged with a misdemeanor drug offense.
Serrano was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where his bond was set at $280,000.
