Mrs. Dovie Ijames, 85, daughter of the late Flora Collins Gregory and the late J.B. Gregory was born January 9,1939, in Davie County, N.C. Mrs. Dovie Ijames attended Davie County Training School and later became a CNA and cared for others for over thirty years.

Mrs. Ijames was married to the late Robert E. Ijames, and together they had four children, Lavern Barber of Cleveland N.C., the late Elmora Ijames of Cleveland, N.C., the late Robert L. Ijames of Cleveland, N.C., and Sally Dulin of Woodleaf, N.C. From their children came four grandchildren, the late Marcus Barber of Woodleaf, N.C., Sherry Oglesby of Salisbury, N.C., Nathanial C. Dulin of Italy, and Shanica Gillispie Watson of Salisbury, N.C. Following their grandchildren came eight great grandchildren, the late Isaiah Gillispie of Salisbury, N.C., Takiya and Tempest Elijah and the late Hydeya Robbins of Salisbury, N.C., and Liam, Anilah and Kaden Dulin of Italy.

Left to forever cherish her fond loving memories are her brothers, James Benard Gregory of Salisbury, N.C., Miles Lee Gregory of Lexington, N.C., William Matthew Gregory of Woodleaf, N.C., and the late Stephone Gregory of Davie County, N.C.; her sisters, Agnes Jackson of Woodleaf, N.C., Mary Ann Tenor of Mocksville, N.C., Gertrude Gregory of Mocksville, N.C., and Pearline Litaker of Salisbury, N.C., and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church at 1 p.m. with Rev. Dale Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Ijames will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state at 11:30 a.m. Members of the family will receive friends at the church from 12 until 1 p.m., but will assemble at the residence of her daughter, Sally Dulin,  on Joe Summers Road, Cleveland, at other times.
