Mr. Michael Leo McManus, 81, of Statesville, N.C., died April 21, 2024, at his home. Born in Wisconsin on January 20, 1943, he was a son of the late Arthur William McManus and Irene Veech McManus.

He was a truck driver, owner and operator, and a member of St. Philip The Apostle Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling in his RV, talking with friends about his 57 years of trucking, NASCAR and the Green Bay Packers football team.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Frank Grall; two sons, Michael Arthur McManus and Daniel Scott McManus; and two brothers, David and Arthur McManus.

Survivors include his wife Ina Sue Estes McManus; a daughter, Pamela Oxendine (Floyd) of Hiddenite; his sister, Kathleen McManus Waits; and three grandchildren, Michelle Martin (Jimmy), Nicky Testerman (Jason) and Michael Oxendine (Nicole). Also surviving are six great grandchildren, Collin Oxendine, Jackson Oxendine, Finn Oxendine, Freya Oxendine, Vanessa Martin and Violet Martin.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. Philip The Apostle Catholic Church with Father Bernard officiating. The burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home.
